Just wanted to say your article was very helpful. With Google apps and enom, it's pretty simple. Instead of a CNAME record, just create a redirect entry under DNS settings.

Thanks Adria, got the subdomain made finaly. Doesnt work yet, but i had success with another domain that is hosted with the same company. Here are the steps i had to do:

Create subdomain at the hosting level.

Create a .htaccess file

Place this in the .htacess file...

Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule (.*) http://www.newdomain.com/$1 [R=301,L]

Then it worked! BTW- how is your new iPhone:)

@Christian,

It looks like you haven't set it up propertly.

When I try this link to your Facebook page, it loads.

When I look up your subdomain http://facebook.tmaemarketing.com at OpenDNS Cache Check it says that subdomain isn't valid. Make sure you follow the directions and add the facebook address as a forwarding address in the lower left hand corner of your domain record.

If your DNS is at GoDaddy, it should take just a few hours. Mine was forwarding in less than 30 minutes.

When you go to http://facebook.yourdomain.com, what happens?

What did you enter in as the forwarding address?

I think in the case of domain registration at Google Apps, they have ENOM manage the domain. I found this page on DNS at ENOM http://www.enom.com/help/dnsdemo.asp.

You would create a subdomain by creating a "CNAME" record but I don't know if ENOM allows you to forward subdomains which is what makes things very easy using GoDaddy for domain name management. ENOM does say they have "URL Forwarding" so you should contact them to get instructions how to do that.

You can transfer your domain name to GoDaddy for easy DNS and domain management.

Hey Adria,
Did it just like you said, but for whatever reason, it still doesn't work for me. How long did you have to wait before it went live? I going about 3 days now.

doh! Nice catch there on noticing the subdomain was not working when I removed the numbers at the end.

I corrected it to point the http://facebook.freshworkshops.com subdomain to http://www.facebook.com/pages/Freshworkshops/92361301918 instead.
