How do you find a great deal on a new computer? Crowdsource it!
Finding a good deal online has always involved networking with other people so Twitter isn’t new in that sense. Forums have been lively areas where people swapped information on deals, coupons, mailers and Black Friday specials.
I prefer to my my computer already built as I’m over the “It’s so cool because I built it myself” phase so below are hot spots to find deals on both assembled systems and parts.
I’m going to share my three favorite sites
I began using XPBargains a few years ago when I was looking for a deal on a Dell. The thing I like about this site is you can search for previous promotions by store. This allows you to compare a deal Dell had 6 months ago to make sure you’re truly getting the best deal. Another thing is XPBargains lists specific deals and shows you the cost savings. Using them for my recent purchase saved me $300.
I’ve been using Fatwallet since 1999 and it’s one of my favorite deals sites. There are all sorts of things listed and people spend time discussing, comparing and sharing their deal experiences. I’ve been able to snag great prices on travel, computer hardware, SSL certificates and especially domain names at Fatwallet. They were the first site I used for my Black Friday shopping way back when I used to head out in the wee hours of the morning, in Minnesota here and wait in crazy lines. Remember, 10 years ago, the lines were not so bad as most people didn’t have the internet! They also have a cashback system setup with many well known companies so I’ve had a few checks come my way for 1%-12% of my purchase.
Slickdeals is a place for hard core geeks to exchange information about seriously hot deals that often expire within hours. If you come as a n00b here, you may get a verbal lashing for posting a duplicate deal or asking a “dumb” question. You can snag great technology deals here.
What are your favorite places to get sizzling technology deals?

TY Adria. It was nice catching you live for once. Huge YT fan of yours. You constantly bombard me with information I did not know I wanted to know.
GeekGirls need to unite, and I admire you.
Here is how I found you:
(Don't Laugh)
You did a youtube on your hair which was so refreshing because I have a daughter whose best friend is a flat iron. I sent it to her and we had a great conversation the next day.
She is only 14.. still figuring herself out, but I wanted her to see a positive female embracing her natural curls. (She is biracial)
However, YOUR WALL spoke volumes to me. I knew I was among good geek people and from then it was ON!
Great show tonight.
(I learned about buying a refurb)

Citizen X,
That's great to hear (hair)! haha
Glad you enjoyed the show. You were certainly throwing in a lot of
commentary.
The show is a great way to deliver information. Now that I'll be using
Livestream to share my desktop, that will help with the detailed technology
aspects!
