I’ve been asked by Scott and Jill to be one of their guests this Saturday night for a special episode titled, “Girls on Geek”. They have asked several women in technology who are actively publishing media rich content on YouTube, in podcasts and of course, who are live streaming like myself to join in for an open discussion.
When: Saturday 9/19/2009 8:30 pm EST (7:30pm CST)
Where: Compute-Ability Live
What: Girls On Geek Part 1

Come to Learn, Laugh and Liberate Your Inner Geek
The setup over at Compute-ability for the screen share is neat. They have a widescreen layout and are using software that pushes a high quality feed to Ustream using Adobe FME. This allows Scott to have guests show up and from what I saw, makes for a livelier discussion.
The floor will be open for topics so I expect to have a good time tomorrow joking, listening and sharing. I heard that Nixiepixel, a Linux, gamer chick will in attendance.
What Compute-Ability Is About
I had the opportunity to chat with Scott this week via Skype. I learned that he and Jill live in Florida, run an IT business where they help people’s computer steer clear of viruses and find their web show evolving into something bigger than they expected. They are finding themselves surrounded by a growing community of viewers who dig they style of their web show.
Getting Help
I asked Scott for advice on my set up as I’ve struggled with better lighting and better broadcasting quality since starting my lifestream show at AskAdria.com earlier this year. Scott said my Logitech 9000 Pro webcam was a good choice so it was probably the software settings. He remoted into my computer using Logmein Rescue (sound familiar?) and we went over my settings for the webcam as well as Adobe FME (Flash Media Encoder).
It was great to talk to another webcaster about my setup and I think I’ve made a breakthrough by surrounding myself with light and using the walls to create a softer illumination.
