Google released a new feature last month which allow you to search using your voice.
Category: Video Tutorial
Following up with the blog post from a few days ago announcing the new Google Calendar feature called Appointment slots, I’ve created a video on how to use them. Enjoy!
Make sure to think about using Bit.ly or another url shortening service to make it easier for your potential clients and visitors to reserve time!

I’m creating a backup of my entire Macbook Pro using SuperDuper so I can run a repair against my drive without worrying about ruining anything. My system wouldn’t boot up properly Sunday night and it turns out there are a ton of files that need fixing using Apple’s Verify & Repair for the permissions and disk. I don’t have time to spend reinstalling Snow Leopard and all my applications so this is why this step is necessary even though I have my data backed up via Mozy.

Have you ever gone into WordPress and changed the URL in the settings area only to find you couldn’t login anymore or load your site? Never fear! Today’s question from @laurenthedark asked this on Twitter so here’s your video Lauren:
So Lauren, there you go. Make sure to sign up for my training newsletter to get tips and news on WordPress and business productivity tools.
I’ve received a lot of questions from my previous blog post on converting and editing an iPhone voice memo.
Yes, it’s true. You can convert the .m4a files to .mp3.
In this video, I show you how you can export multiple files from a single MP3 using Audacity.

Instructions from Audacity website:
How can I split a long recording into multiple files or CD tracks?
Follow these steps to create a separate file for each song or segment of a long recording. This is particularly useful if you are creating a CD, since each file will appear as a separate track on the CD.
- Click to place the cursor at the start of the first song.
- Choose “Add Label at Selection” from the Project menu. If you wish, you can type the name of the song.
- Repeat steps 1 and 2 for each song.
- When you are finished, choose “Export Multiple” from the File menu. When you click the “Export” button, Audacity will save each song as a separate file, using the format and location you choose.
A detailed, illustrated tutorial explaining this process is available on the Splitting_recordings_into_separate_tracks page on the Audacity Wiki.
Do you create videos and tutorials to share on YouTube? In order for the videos to show up as the widescreen version, the dimensions of your video need to be at least 1280×760. I use Sizer to quickly resize my windows before doing screencast recording with Camtasia Studio or Jing.

You’ll find more help about how to setup before you start recording over at Techsmith’s Visual Lounge blog.
I had two folks who attended the #140 Conference ask me how to get Tweetboard setup so I decided to set it up on my own blog and make a video tutorial

Just want good antivirus without being annoyed?
I read a helpful post this summer on how to turn off the annoying avira popup this summer Tipsfor.us blog. I decided to create a quick video of what you need to do in safe mode and took screenshots to illustrate all the steps to enjoy free antivirus protection without nag screens.

Background Avira and the popups: Antivir is an antivirus product made by Avira. Their personal version is free for home users. It’s a good product but the popups are annoying. They constantly ask the user to purchase their premium version.
XP Professional can go straight to the file location.
XP Home will need to enter Safe Mode (hit “F8″ on your Keyboard during bootup)
Copy and paste this into Start>Run
“C:Program FilesAviraAntiVir PersonalEdition Classic”
Find avnotify.exe
Right click and select “Properties”
Select the “Security” tab
(If you don’t see the “Security” tab, you need to turn off Simple File Sharing)
- Click Start, and then click My Computer.
- On the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
- Click the View tab.
- In the Advanced Settings section, clear the Use simple file sharing (Recommended) check box.
- Click OK.
Select the “Advanced” button
Select the “Edit” for each account
Click “Deny” for “Traverse Folder / Execute File” for each account listed
Launch Avira. I did this while still in Safe Mode and it threw up the errors you see in the video so launch it once you reboot.
Click “Administration” on the left
Right Click “Daily Update” and select “Edit Job”
Click “Next” Twice until you get to the “Selection of the Display Mode” option. From the dropdown choose “Invisible”
And that’s it! You won’t see the ANNOYING POP-UPS asking you to pay Avira $30 bucks.
